PRESS STATEMENT
Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi felicitates with the Nigerian Muslim community and indeed all humanity on the commencement of the fasting of the month Ramadhan.
As Muslims begins the observance of this cardinal pillar of Islam, Senator Makarfi enjoins all to seize the opportunity of the holy month to get closer to Allah, shun vices, imbibe and apply the legendary Islamic culture of peace, love for one another as well as good neighbourliness irrespective of whatever differences. Equally importantly, the spirit of sacrifice and restraint that the fasting and the season seek to inculcate must not be lost on us; it behooves on us all to, among others reach out to the less privileged and share with them the little that we have, as only Allah knows how much impact that will have on their lives and all of us.
Also, as Nigeria grapples with challenges virtually in all facets of life, Senator Makarfi believes that as we get closer to Allah through prayers, supplications and other forms of worship, the fasting period is an opportune moment for us all to earnestly solicit for Allah’s intercession for the mitigation of the socio economic issues that bedevil our country particularly, the problems of insecurity that seem to be taking a rather more dangerous and unpredictable dimension.
Senator Makarfi also enjoins Nigerians to use the opportunity of the month of Ramadhan in which the Holy Quran was revealed, to also pray to Allah to guide our leaders at all levels and to continue to protect Nigeria and hasten its attainment of the greatness that it deserves.
