The Governor Of Zamfara State, Dr. Bello Mohammed has disclosed how the immediate past Governor Of the State, Alh. Abdulaziz Yari is undermining security efforts been put in place by his administration.
He said, the former governor and his followers are peddling lies and posting pictures that are not true especially on the social media platforms in order to cause distractions on his administration’s effort in addressing security challenges in the State.
A statement by the Director General, Press Affairs to the Governor, Yusuf Idris Gusau quoted the Governor wondering why former governor Yari is instigating his boys against the Security development in the State.
The Governor warned that he was not going to sit down and allow the improved security situation get deteriorated as a result of the unlawful activities of the former Governor Yari and his gan.
He gave the warning at Government House, while receiving eight Ak47 rifles, 0ne pistol and 12 rounds of ammunition voluntarily surrendered to the government by one of the repentant bandits, Saleh Kawajo Kuyambana.
The Governor said Government is going to take serious action against anyone found in the act of peddling lies or posting pictures that are not true reflections of the incidents and happenings in any part of the state vowing instructing security agencies in the state to arrest and prosecute anybody found in such acts no matter how highly placed such persons or groups are in the society.
He observed that this was the third time the Former Governor will visit the State and it will be followed by Security breach, noting that it was too much of coincidences and so blamed it on the unlawful gathering that the former Governor always organized.
He explained that Security is the responsibility of all and wondered why some people such as the ex governor Yari and his followers are not happy with the current development in which the security of the state has been significantly improved.
Governor Mohammed who was earlier billed to travel to Germany to discuss investments into the state, had to cancel the trip because of the unfortunate incident that occurred in Karaye village of Gummi local Government area that resulted in the loss of 14 innocent souls.
He strongly cautioned them to stop the bad behaviour of spreading lies or face the full wrath of the law.
He reassured that he will not compromise or allow some failed politicians to destroy the State for their personal interests.
The Governor also commended the repentant bandits for surrendering the arms voluntarily and urged those that are yet to embrace the state peace initiative to hasten doing so before the law catches up with them.
Earlier while presenting the arms to the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Usman Nagoggo the governor commended the repentant bandits for surrendering the arms and promised to intensify efforts in addressing the Security challenges facing the State.
On his part Chairman Zamfara Committee of arms and ammunition recovery who doubles as a Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security, Alhaji Abubakar Mohammed Dauran said his committee is working day and night to ensure that all the arms are recovered within a short period of time.
