An eighteen year old house wife one Hindatu Abdullahi of ‘Wuro Boggo village, Duguri District in Alkaleri local government area of Bauchi state Wednesday paraded by the state police command for allegedly killing a two weeks old baby boy born by her co-wife one Fatima Abdullahi both of whom reside in the same house at the same address.
Addressing journalists on the successes recorded by the police in the state in their recent operations, the Police Public Relations Officer [PPRO] DSP Kamal Datti Abubakar explained that their personnel attached to Maina Maji division arrested the suspect on 19th August this year after receiving a report on the case from some of the family members.
According to him, the suspect committed the alleged offence while their husband one Abdullahi Ori went to Saudi Arabia for this year’s pilgrimage leaving his two wives together at home.
He added that the said Hindatu allegedly collected the child of her co-wife Fatima named Mohammed Abdullahi and went to her [Hindatu’s] room with the baby and put into his mouth a dangerous insecticide known as ‘Pia-Pia’ as a result of which he fainted and was rushed to a nearby dispensary for emergency medical attention where he later died.
” The suspect was arrested and also the remaining quantity of the toxic insecticide was also recovered now on the process of scientific examination. Meanwhile the suspect confessed to the offence of which she will be charged to court after investigation”. He said.
The PPRO also stated that the command had during its series of operations from july 2017 to August 2017 succeeded in arresting armed robbery suspects Abubakar Suleiman and Jamilu Usman at their hideout in Bayan Gari area in the state capital, suspected kidnappers Sulaiman Abubakar, Hussaini Abubakar at Juwara mountain, Bauchi, and had rescued four people held hostage by their captors at Gala mountain in Dass local government.
” The team successfully rescued the hostages as follows; Na’ima Idriss 25, Yakubu Hussaini 45, Inusa Alhaji Usman 13, Ishiaka Lawal 10 and also recovered the following exhibits; one single barreled gun, 3 live cartridges, one cooking pot and one military uniform”. He pointed out.
The command who assured that all the cases were under discreet investigation after which the suspects would be arraigned urged members of the public not to relent in providing useful information that might assist the police in making the state safe.
