The Sangarin Kwandere in Nasarawa State, Alhaji Ahmadu Al-Makura, has advised Fulanis to ensure the proper upbringing of their children to enhance peace and societal development.
Al-Makura gave the advice while receiving an Award of Excellence from the Badaro Fulani Socio-cultural organisation on Wednesday in Lafia.
He said that good parenting would not only make the children better future leaders, but would also promote peace in the society.
The traditional ruler urged them to continue to inculcate moral values and discipline in their children, for the overall development of Nigeria.
“I want to appreciate you for finding me worthy of this award, as it will spur me to do more.
“I want to assure you of my continued support to enable you to succeed.
“I want to urge you and the other people of the state to live in peace and tolerate one another, irrespective of your affiliation.
“As peace is priceless and non-negotiable, it is the necessary requirement for the development of any society,” he said.
The traditional ruler also urged parents to give adequate priority to the education of their children.
Al-Makura said that no society would achieve meaningful development without education.
Earlier, Mr Jafar Umar, the National President of the association, said they decided to honour the traditional ruler with the award because of his positive contributions to the development of the association and the society at large.
Umar lauded Al-Makura for promoting peace in his domain, urging for its sustenance.
He pledged the association’s continued commitment to preaching peace to its members and other Nigerians at all times. (NAN)
