The four children of late Reverend Hosea M. Akuchi who was killed by gunmen in Kaduna have been promised scholarship to continue their education by the Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani.
Senator Sani made the pledge when he paid a condolence visit to the family of the deceased at Kasuwar Magani in Kujama, Chikun Local Government Area of the state.
Unknown gunmen had at the wee hours of Monday attacked Nasara Baptist Church, Guguwa near Rigasa in Kaduna, killing Reverend Hosea who was the church pastor and abducted his wife, Mrs. Talatu H. Akuchi. The abductors of Mrs. Talatu had demanded the sum of N5million as ransom to release her.
During the condolence visit, the Senator promised to support the education of the late Reverend’s children. “I will sit with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the family of the deceased to discuss on what will be deposited in CAN’s account for the children’s education,”
While he decried the spate of killings and kidnapping in the state; he lamented that Kaduna has become a den of killer men. He however urged that those responsible for the evil act be brought to book by government who is responsible for the protection of lives and properties in the state
“I will take the matter to Abuja a1nd see how the family can be assisted because it is the responsibility of the leaders to protect lives and properties of the people. God that created mankind will not allow family of the dead to suffer, the children are seed that will germinate and grow to become future leaders,”
Responding, the deceased’s first daughter appreciated the Senator, saying his gesture shows that he is a Muslim without religious bias.
