As part of his contribution to reduction unemployment rate in the country, the member representing Zango Kataf/Jaba federal constituency at the House of Representatives, Barr. Sunday Marshall Katung has undertaken to empowered hundreds people with different types of entrepreneurship in Southern Kaduna.
The disbursed N8.9 million to the recipients was a take off capital after completion of rigorous training in varying skill acquisition.
A statement by the Media office of the lawmaker said that the beneficiaries mostly youths and women were trained in various skills including, soap, detergent, deodorant and pomade making.
Mr. Allah Magani Yohana, a former Commissioner for Local government in Kaduna State who represented the Lawmaker to present cheques to beneficiaries over the weekend in Zonkwa, Zangon Kataf local government area of Kaduna State said, the lawmaker was concerned about the rate of unemployment in the country, hence the need to embark on skill acquisition programmes for the teaming youth and Women.
He said the gesture was part of the Katung’s promise towards human capacity development adding that the idea is to help beneficiaries harness the acquired skills in order to be self-sufficient.
The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Zangon Kataf local government Mr Mr Samuel Basa, said the Lawmaker had demonstrated the spirit of true representation of the electorate especially at the grassroots.
Also in goodwill message, a former Commissioner of Information in Kaduna State, Mr Ben Bako, told beneficiaries to consider themselves lucky to have been trained on skills that would make them self-sufficient.
Bako advised the beneficiaries to use the monies for the purposes it was meant for and not to meet personal needs.
A beneficiary, Mr Monday Nayan who spoke at the event applauded the Lawmaker for the funds, adding that the cash was timely as it would afford many of those who have acquired the skills to start a new phase of livelihood.
