In a bid to reduce road crashes and loss of lives, the House of Representatives member, representing Zango Kataf/Jaba federal constituency, Barr. Sunday Marshall Katung on Wednesday commissioned a rehabilitated three killomitres road along Kachia-Kwoi road in Jaba local government area of Kaduna State.
Representatives Katung, while commissioning the project expressed satisfaction with the job which according to him was aimed curtailing recurring road crashes witnessed along the road.
“The portion of the road which spanned about 3km prior to its rehabilitation was a nightmare to motorists as it also has claimed scores of lives.
“It is our hope that’s with the work done, motorists as well as other road users would have a level respite and move without hitches,” he said.
The Legislator said he would remain committed to ensuring his constituents enjoyed dividends of democracy, adding that other road projects including those of, Jere-Kwoi, Kwoi-Kurmi Jubril to Kachia amongst others would in no distant time receive same attention.
Also speaking at the event, Mr Ben Bako, former commissioner of Information in Kaduna State said the business of governance had little or no significance except when it impacted on the lives of the common people.
“What we witness today suggests that there was no barrier to constructive engagement with legislators.
“We commend the Legislator for being able to lobby for such an intervention that would touch our individual lives,” he said.
Mr Bisallah Gyet, PDP Chairman of Jaba local government said the gesture was not only to
the benefit of the people of the area but for as many road users that ply the road.
He said he was hopeful that the gesture would serve as challenge to others who are in respective positions of influence, adding that the rehabilitation would drastically reduce road crashes witnessed on the road.
