Rapist Invades Plateau state, Raped 2 To Death

Teryima Andrew. Jos

Worried by the increasing cases of rape incidents, the lawmaker representing Riyom constituency at Plateau state house of assembly, Daniel Dem, has said he will soon present the issues at state assembly as a matter of urgent public importance to be addressed.

“It is indeed a sad development, I will present the matter to the floor of the assembly soon; not long ago, a woman in my community was raped.”

Mr. Dem stated Saturday in an interview with Kakaaki Reporters in Jos, the legislator describes the rape as evil.

He revealed that a woman was recently raped from his immediate community in Riyom local government.

Similarly, concern by the unfortunate development, a group “Plateau Initiative for the Development and Advancement of the Natives, (PIDAN) and the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) have called on the government of Plateau state to immediately take measures toward curtailing increasing number of rape cases in the state.

Commenting on incessant cases of rape, in Plateau state, chairperson Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) Plateau state chapter Jenifer Yarima, also on Saturday revealed that two women were raped to death ecently.

“It was reliably gathered that two women in the same community were raped to death, and their bodies were dumped.”

It will be recalled that a personnel of the special taskforce on Jos crisis posted to Barkinladi local government headquarters was arrested for raping a minor.

Also a class room teacher of a private school in the same Barkinladi council areas allegedly impregnated a 13 year old pupil through rape.

According to PIDAN President Madaki Aboi, and it spokesman, Stephen Sarki, in a press statement on earlier, the evil act was been perpetrated by suspected herdsmen, raping women in the farm.

It will be recalled that three women including a nursing mother of two were raped in Riyom local government two weeks ago by suspected herdsmen. The nursing mother was said to have sustained serous injuries in her private part.

PIDAN alleged that the suspected Fulani rapepist also carry alone with them weapons, robbing and harassing innocent citizens.

“PIDAN called on the Plateau State Government to look into the issue of herdsmen moving around with AK47 Riffles, destroying farm lands,  raping women and robbing people especially around the Mushere area of Bokkos Local Government Area by providing security in the area,  as well as arrest the situation where cows are  herded in the  night.”

On the recent quit notice given to Igbo people by “Arewa Youth Forum” to relocate from nothern Nigeria in three months, PIDAN call on governor Simon Lalong, to beef up security in the state as a means of preventing influx of unwanted persons into the state.

“We urged the Governor to be more vigilant and beef up more security since the call by the so-called Arewa youths presents strong security threats to the State and Nigeria in general.”
