The major opposition political party in Plateau state, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has said it will not accept the verdict by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, which declared the All Progressive Congress APC candidate Bar Simon Lalong winner of the gubernatorial elections in the state.
Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP Senator Gen Jeremiah Useni, made the intension of the party known in a press conference held a his residence in Jos, Plateau state on Sunday.
Gen Useni said the party PDP in conjunction with himself, the candidate of the party have briefed it legal team to get set for a legal battle concerning the gubernatorial elections.
Gen. Jeremiah Useni said the results declared by the commission was a total fraud, and therefore not acceptable by the party and his person, as the governorship flag bearer.
The PDP candidate described the result declared by INEC as a temporary set back, he insisted that the party will reclaim it victory.
“The result is a total fraud, it’s unacceptable to us, it’s a temporary set back, we shall reclaim our stolen mandate.”
Meanwhile, the PDP candidate, Gen Jeremiah Useni thanked Plateau electorates for the massive votes they gave him during the polls.
It will be recalled that Governor Simon Lalong of the All Progressive Congress scored 595,582 votes against his People’s Democratic Party PDP Senator Jeremiah Useni, who pulled 546,813 votes.
The press conference had in attendance Plateau state PDP chairman, Hon Damishi Sango, and other top PDP chieftains in the state.
