Two police officers were beaten off by angry youth of Lopande, Dwei, the scene of Sunday night attack which claimed 11 lives, injured 12 people, currently receiving treatment at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) and the Plateau state specialists hospital Jos.
Spokesman of the Plateau state police command, DSP Terna Tyopev revealed in a telephone interview with Kakaaki Reporters in Jos, Tuesday morning.
The police public relations officer said that the injured police officers include an Inspector and a police Sergeant.
DSP Tyopev said the wounded police officers are been hospitalized at the police clinic Jos, for medical attention.
Tyopev identified the victims as “Inspector James Gomos and Sgt Muazu Adamu all attached to ‘A’ Division.”
He also said a police patrol vehicle was smashed by the rampaging persons, protesting killing of the eleven persons during the Sunday night at a local settlement Lopande, Dwei, Du district in Jos south local government area.
It will be recalled that some Journalists who were at the scene early hours of Monday also suffered similar humiliations in the hands of some rampaging youth who almost lynched six Journalists who went the report the incident.
One of the Journalist, a camera man narrowly excape unhurt, but had to abandoned his car and scamper for his life on foot.
However, no suspect of the said attack have been arrested, in clouding the rampaging youth by any security agents, but police said investigations into the incident was on.
