Five local miners were reportedly killed by suspected gunmen in Barkinldi local government area of Plateau state, police have said. Bring death toll to 17 in three days.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the police command DSP Terna Tyopev, confirmed the incident in an exclusive telephone interview with Kakaaki Reporters in Jos, Wednesday evening.
Mr. Tyopev said no arrest have been made, but the incident is been investigated “the incident (most recent incident) is unfortunate, the five miners were killed; we (Police) shall strive to fish out the perpetrators and bring them to book.”
Relations of the deceased persons killed on Tuesday at a mining site report that the incident occurred early hours of Tuesday, at about 9am; near a Tin Mining site in Razat, Kwock and Ropp communities in Barkinladi local government area.
It is sad to note that 17 innocent people have loss their lives in Plateau state within three days, following gunmen hunting armless residents without a single arrest by security operatives.
Several other people including security operatives were injured as a result of the repeated attacks on persons and communities.
