Gubernatorial aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Plateau state have signed an accord to support any of them that will win the party’s primaries to contest against incumbent governor Simon Lalong of the APC come 2019.
The governorship aspirants made their decision known Tuesday through the former deputy Senator Ibrahim Mantu led Committee set up by the Plateau People’s Democratic Party (PDP)
It will be recalled that the State Working Committee of the PDP had earlier constituted a committee to dialogue with 13 aspirant jostling to grab the party’s ticket in the 2019 governorship election.
Speaking at the event, the former deputy Senate President, Alhaji Ibrahim Mantu who headed a five man committee came up with a resolution reached with all the 13 aspirants that anyone who emerges the Party flag bearer, will have the full corporation of the other 12.
Sen Mantu said, “It is a family affairs and they have agreed to conduct themselves in a brotherly manner. They have five days to complete their assignment and we want them to base their campaigns on issues and not character assassination. I am confident that whoever emerges, we will all support him to change the change”.
Signing the agreement, the aspirants who appended their signatures agreed that the campaign will be issue based and not assassination of one’s character, promising not to decamp, rather will unite and work with the wining candidate.
PDP executives in Plateau state have severally said it will reclaim it mandate from APC come 2019 elections.
