As part of enforcing and implementation of the Executive Order 003 recently enacted by the governor of Plateau state, Barr Caleb Mutfwang; the taskforce in charged of enforcing the Order 003 on Monday, began the implementation, presented seized goods from erring traders to the Jos Correctional centre (Prisons) and an Internally Displaced Persons IDP camp in Barkinladi local government area of the state.
Speaking with Journalists at loading centre, on the decision of government to fully implement the Executive Order 003, following expiration of the grace earlier given, commissioner for Information and communication Hon Musa Ashoms, said all sectors of the Executive Order must be implemented to the leather.
Hon Ashoms revealed that those claiming ignorance of the Executive Order 003 are not fair to government; according to him, government representatives led by the Secretary to the Government of the state SGS Arch Samuel Jatau including himself (Ashoms) had met with traders, religious leaders and other stakeholders 48 times, and pleaded with them to obey the order for the common good of all, but some persons are still adamant.
Ashoms explained that the Executive Order banning display of goods and materials on the streets expired since 10th June, hence the committee was given the permission to take the seized items to IDP’s and to inmates serving jail term in the state for onward distribution as it is enshrined in the policy.
The seized item include footwear, detergents, and clothes.
Ashoms said the decision of government is not to witch hunt anyone, but insisted that laws and policies of state must be obeyed by all.
The information commissioner explained that the Executive Order 003 prohibits barricades of roads by all individuals and organizations including security agencies and worship centres in the state.
The governor’s Executive Order 003, prohibits vehicular movement of heavy trucks between the hours of 6:00am till 9:00pm each day.
Similarly, the same order also banned indiscriminate parking of trucks within Jos and Bukuru metropolis.
The said Order also prohibits building of all structures within Jos and Bukuru metropolis without due approvals.
