The Nigeria Army under the auspices of Operation Safe Heaven in Jema’a local government of Kaduna State on Friday commissioned and handed over a rehabilitated water bore hole at Gidan Waya.
It’s Commander, Maj. Gen. Anthony Atolagbe while commissioning the project said the gesture was part of the Quick Impact Projects (QIP) aimed to sustain relative peace and win the hearts and minds of residents in vulnerable communities.
“One of such projects that was identified to have a lasting effect on the people is the sinking of water bore holes that can be utilized by large members of the communities within areas concerned,” he said.
The Commander noted that the project would further foster a cordial relationship in all the various social groups living in the community thereby gaining their support to security operations in the areas.
He, then, urged the community to utilise the facility for the benefit of residents within the area and take appropriate measure to protect and safeguard it for a longer benefit of all
concerned.
The Administrator of local government, Alh. Yusuf Usman in a message commended Operation Safe Heaven for identifying with the needs of especially, rural dwellers saying the gesture would impact positively on the lives of the residents.
Alh. Usman assured the Army that the community would always cooperate with security agents in providing useful information that would further strengthen security in the area.
Also, Alh Buhari Adamu, the Hakimin Gidan Waya and representative of the traditional institution applauded the Army for the rehabilitation of the bore hole that had been damaged for years.
“For this singular act coupled with your relentless effort in ensuring security of lives and property, our people are extremely overwhelmed,” he said.
The Traditional Head assured the Army of the safety and care of the borehole.
