Governor of Plateau State Barr Caleb Mutfwang, has declared seven day mourning and prayers to cleansing Plateau State from insurgency.
“As a mark of honour for the memory of the deceased, I wish to declare a week of mourning from January 1st, to January 8th, 2024. During this period of mourning, flags will fly at half-mast.”
Governor Mutfwang stated this Money in a statewide broadcast as new year massage to citizens.
The governor tasked Christians and Muslim faithfuls to dedication Friday and Sunday this week for special prayers for God to take total charge of Plateau State.
“I wish to plead with our Muslim clerics to dedicate Friday January 5th, 2024 and our Christian Clergy to use Sunday January 7th, 2024 as special prayer days for lasting peace to return to the Plateau.”
On the persistent attacks in the State, governor Mutfwang described the killings as genocide been metered on citizens; revealed officially tha 160 persons were killed during the recent attacks in the state.
“We ended the year 2023 on a sad note because of the many precious lives we lost including but not limited to over 400 between April and June, 2023 as well as the over 160 in the recent Christmas genocide.” He noted
The governor Used the broadcast and pardoned four inmates who were on death rope in prisons.
“I have granted state pardon amnesty to one Danladi Musa who was sentenced to life imprisonment but has already served 17 years due to his good conduct, reformation and old age. Similarly, 3 others have had their various sentences converted to lesser terms.” Mutfwang explained
