The forum also appealed on the governors of the Middle Belt to consider the formation of a security outfit that will support the conventional police in securing lives and property in the region.
According to them, the region has remain the most vulnerable and most hit as far as banditry and killings by herdsmen militia is concerned.
“The need for a security outfit cannot be over emphasized, the people of the Middle Belt are predominantly farmers and as the farming season approaches in a couple of months, the need for an Ametokun like of a security outfit under whatever nomenclature will assist the conventional police in securing our communities and villages so they can return to their farms and take advantage of the farming season.
“Recall that in the last few years, our people have not been able to go to their farms due to persistent insecurity, hence the food shortages in the region and by extension shortage of food in the country,” they said.
The Forum also passes vote of confidence on the leadership of the Middle Belt Forum (MBF), led by Dr. Bitrus Pugo who has demonstrated capability of “leading us out of the woods.”
They further appealed to all ethnic leaders, traditional leaders, leaders of thoughts, the clergy, women and youth to give the leadership of the MBF maximum support for the success of the region.
