A 31 year old un-identical twin, Paul Majei has allegedly committed suicide at Angwan Beki, Dandinkowa area, of Jos south local government, Plateau state after a little quarrel with his Wife.
Late Paul, according to his Mother and Wife who was found dead, hung himself on a rope in his room Thursday morning at about 6:30am.
Until his death, late Paul was a staff of the “Peace Corps of Nigeria” had four children.
Narrating the incident in tears to newsmen at their residents, mother of the deceased, a 72 year old grandmother, Martha Magei, said her Son Paul have been unhappy within the past three days before his demise.
“He has been lonely and unhappy since Monday when he had a little misunderstanding with his wife, they had a quarrel, and he became very angry at her, I then advised his wife (Juliet) to stay away from him, (Late Paul) since on Monday she have been sleeping in my room with the kids, just to avoid further fight, thinking that he will calm down.” The mother, a widow Mrs Martha Magei explained.
On her part, the wife to late Paul, Mrs Juliet, a hair dresser and a 26 year old with four children said they got married with her husband in 2008, and they have been living peacefully.
“I woke up in the morning (Thursday) to paper the children for school, when I enter our room, the bed was empty, I didn’t see him, I taught he had gone out, it was still dark, there was no light in the room, my mother in-law ask me from the sitting that I should wake him (Paul), I said he was not in the room, she joined me in room, looking round the room, suddenly we saw him hung behind a clapboard on the celling with a rope, we all ran out in fear and invited our neighbors who came and also saw, police from the Rantiya division were invited immediately and took the remains.”
Police have confirmed the incident Thursday evening, through a press release by it police public relations officer, of the Plateau state police command DSP Terna Tyopev.
Mr. Tyopev said in the press statement that the remains of late Paul Magei has been deposited at the Plateau state specialist hospital morgue in Jos.
Mrs. Juliet Paul said her late husband was loving, but hut tempered when drunk with alcohol “the only time we do have challenge is when he comes back home drunk, though our trouble do not usually last long.”
“But the last Monday incident last for three days, I pleaded with him to calm down, but he refuse to talk to me; I do not know if that is what made him to hang himself.
Left to mourn him (Paul) are his children, Simi Paul, a 9 year old girl, Niri, 7 years, Noro 3 years and a male child Michael Paul, who is one year seven months.
It was learnt that Paul’s twin brother Peter Majei died of allege poison in 2015, also left behind four children and his wife Ester Peter.
Late Peter’s children were said to be Martha, Mafian, Ruth and Tilo Peter Majei, all living with their ground-mother Martha Magei.
Lot of sympathizers were seen trooping the resident of the deceased to pay condolence and mourn with Paul’s widow, children and the aged mother.
