Member of the house of representative, representing Jama’a/Sanga federal constituency of Kaduna state, Mr. Shehu Garba, has call for an end of the killings of his constituents.
The lawmaker stated this while commending organizers of the recently concluded peace parley, organized by religious, security and traditional rulers held at Kafanchan, Jama’a local government area of southern Kaduna state.
“The meeting is a timely, now that the unrest in southern seems to be intensifying, but from the look of things, it is coming to an end, I commend those who organized the forum for the peace talk, I personally attended the parley, watch and listined to people speaking their minds, toward finding lasting solutions to the unfortunate development.”
The legislator in an interview with Journalists said the initial apprehension among citizens might have been nursing toward one another might have been calmed, through the discussions held during the parley.
He added that the meeting could end possibly pending hostilities in his constituency.
Mr. Garba appealed to government at all levels to adequately secure his constituents from external aggression, he therefore sued for peace among citizens living in the area.
He supported the move by security operatives toward combing southern Kaduna of illegal arms in the hands of some citizens, and allegedly using to perpetrate the ongoing killings in the area.
“The move by security operatives to mop up arms among citizens of southern Kaduna is a welcome development, Nigerian law did not permit Nigerians citizens to hold arms, and if people possess arms illegally, and are using same to perpetrate evil, then it should be check and retrieve. This measure might help curtail and even end the violence, enough of the killings” the Lawmaker noted.
It will be recalled that stakeholders at the parley urged Fulani herdsmen not to allow under age children grass cows around farms during farming season.
