The governor of Plateau state, Barr. Simon Lalong, has directed all contractors of the state to return to sites within 14 days, or have their contract terminated.
“I hereby direct the ministry of works to ensure that all contractors working for Plateau state return to site within 14 days, or have their contract terminated, with a sanction awaiting any erring contractor,” the governor warned.
Governor Lalong gave the charge on Wednesday at the official flag off of rehabilitation of roads and patching of pothohles in the state.
This paper observed that most of the road accidents within Jos and Bukuru are cause by deep pothohles on the highway.
The governor of Plateau state warned that those erecting illegal bombs on the stressts and highways and those dumping refuse on the streets to stop, or face similar sanctions.
Lalong said a taskforce have been constituted to arrested and penalize erring road usrers, particuly reckless drivers knocking down newly installed street lights in the state capital.
Speaking on his efforts toward ensuring motorable roads in Plateau state, Governor Lalong revealed that his administration have rehabilitated 22 roads abandoned by his predecessor.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Works in the state, Ho. Pam Botmang, in a welcome address at the flag off, told the gathering that the rehabilitations of the roads will be done across the 17 local government areas of the state.
Botmang informed the Platesu citizens that a total of 46 roads with an estimated length of 63 killometers shall be rehabilitated within one month of commencement of work, with the sum of 1.9 billion Naira.
The Works Commissioner also said the rehabilitations works shall be 24 hours work, and special consideration shall be given to commercial areas within the state capital.
On the increasing erecting of illegal speed bombs within the Jos and Bukuru metropolis, Botmang said erring communities shall be sanctioned soon.
