The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Kano State Council lauded the proactive steps so far taken by Kano State Government aimed at tackling the spread of the dreaded COVID-19 in the State.
According to the statement signed by the State Council Chairman, Comrade Kabiru Ado Minjibir said that the creation and equipping of Isolation Centres is most commendable.
“So also the stay at home order including civil servants as well as closure of all public schools and other Government institutions,” he said.
Comrade Minjibir noted “We would like to use this medium to appeal to workers and the general public to support and cooperate with Government in this regard. They should abide by directives that may be issued from time to time by Government and health workers in the best interest of their safety and well-being.
In the same vein, the Congress wishes to call on all stakeholders especially the health practitioners and the media (press) to continue to sensitize the general public professionally and avoid any act(s) that may create confusion and unnecessary panic among the general public”.
He advised the proprietors of private companies and organizations in the State to take all necessary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of their workers and customers/clients against the spread of the disease.
Finally, Kabiru Minjibir said, in this trying times, the workers and the general public are advised to observe and respect the rules of personal hygiene and other eating habits, and at the same time remain calm and intensify in prayers for immediate termination of the pandemic.
