Abductors of the wife of late Rev. Pastor Hosea. M Akuchi of Nasara Baptist church, Kaduna have demanded for N5 million ransom before releasing her.
This came barely 24 hours after an attack on the church in Guguwa through Rigasa area of Igabi local government of Kaduna which led to the killings of the Pastor, Rev. Akuchi, by the kidnappers.
A source, in the area had said that, the attackers came calling at about 1am on Monday, and forced their way into the apartment of the clergyman and shot him and took his wife, Mrs. Talatu Hosea Akuchi, away.
The family said, as at Tuesday evening, “the abductors said, we need to pay them N5 million naira before they can release her to us even after killing the Reverend in cold blood.
“How can this injustice continue in a country like Nigeria without any serious measures put in place to check the activities of these people? You can imagine that, they now have the gut to walk into people’s home, kill and abduct and also have an effrontery to demand for ransom.
“Where and how can we get that money? How can we become prisoners in our own country as law abiding citizens? The source who did not want his name in print asked.
Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Kaduna Police Command, DSP Yakubu Sabo had earlier confirmed that, the clergyman was shot while struggling with attackers whose intention may be to abduct him.
However, the Police in the state is yet to give any update on the development as several calls and SMS put through the mobile line of the PPRO were yet to be responded to as at the time of filing this report.
