Kaduna- North West Nigeria: Residents of Juji Community in Chikun Local Government area of Kaduna State has commended Nigerian civil Society of engineers over six kilometre rural electrification.
Juji Community with a population of over fifteen thousand 5 kilometers away from kaduna town has been on darkness for over 10 years.
Youth leader of the Community, Hosea Bawa while fielding questions from our correspondent said,” Juji Community is a fast developing area with a population of over 7,000 according to the last censors.
” We have never experienced light in this community until 2014 after putting a concerted effort to see light is brought to this Community, we met our House of rep member Hon Umar Barde, came down to our community through one of his Aide engineer Salasi promised us that some engineers are coming and they came.
” We where overwhelmed when we saw them and they commence work at around June, July in 2014. They completed their work within eight months, ” Hosea disclosed.
He disclosed that, “the light was connected from a Major Seminary along abuja/Kaduna express road about six kilometres.
” After the completion of the light project the contractor told us that he is going to meet NEPA so that the light will be connected, the connection of the light was delayed which led to vandalization of about 4killometres cables.
According to him, ” We contacted the contractor and told him this is what happened he said we shouldn’t disturb him he doesn’t know anything about the cables.
” We wrote to the State Government and the Federal Government which rural electrification staffs came down and found out its was true what we were saying but nothing was done since then.
He explained that, not long ago Chief Sunny Okogo promised and donated two plot of land to our Community at Jere, he ask us to sell and buy transformer for our community.
” We also kept crying on the media and God heard our voices and sent Nigerian civil society of engineers. They came down to our community look at the light challenges and promised to bring light to us we thought they are just playing adding, they have already sent contractors to take measurement.
Their national President came down to this community and supervised the light and promised us light by November. He promised us the light will be commission during their convention here in Kaduna.
” The civil society of engineers normally select a project which they will execute in one part of the country and we lucky Juji community was selected.
“We want to specially thank this organisation for their kind gesture on our community. We’ll forever remain thankful for this giant stride
