Governors Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state and Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger state have both commended ongoing Operation Sahel Sanity being conducted by Nigerian Army to rid the north west of banditry, kidnapping and cattle rustling.
The two governors made the commendations when they visited the Nigerian Army Super Camp IV in Faskari to assess the conduct of the operations which is being coordinated from the camp.
El-Rufai and Bello said they are satisfied with the level of dedication by the troops of Sahel Sanity in curbing the banditry, kidnapping and other criminals activities in the North West region and Niger state within within the last one Month of the operation.
The governors said the conduct of operation Sahel Sanity since it flag off on 6th July, is yielding desired results as peace is currently returning in the two regions.
“We are totally behind the military due to their level of commitments in the fight against banditry, kidnappings and cattle rustling in the north west and Niger state. We also commend the army under the leadership of Chief of Army Staff, Lt Yusuf Tukur Buratai for the success recorded since the beginning of the operation,” they said.
The governors promised to remain resolute in their individual and joint capacity to support the Nigerian Army to ensure peace is fully restored as quickly as possible.
El-Rufai and Bello appealed to Federal Government to redeployed more troops to the two region for the total eliminations of the dreaded bandits, kidnappers and cattle rustlers for peace to thrive and allow socioeconomic development of the two regions.
“The Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Yusuf Tukur Buratai reiterated the zeal and commitment of the army to end banditry, insurgency and other nefarious activities in the country.
