A University of Calabar lecturer with specialty in elementary education at the department of Curriculum Studies, Prof. Mrs. Rita Cyril Ndifon says she refused to fall despite husband’s travail at his place of work.
The acadamic don charged young couples to stand as pillars to thier spouses whenever thier marriages are faced with a challenge, urging wives not to be perturb by challenges that come with marriage, but to stand by thier spouses.
The female university lecturer gave the advice while Speaking with our correspondent during a thanksgiving ceremony organized by Holy Trinity Catholic Church in honour of Prof. Mrs Rita Ndifon to mark her 28tj years of marriage Anniversary and elevation to the rank of a professor, Sunday in Calabar.
In her words Prof. Mrs Ndifon said, “To young women, I charge you to be steadfast and firm when trial hits your marriage. Love your husbands, stand by him, notwithstanding the storm of life that visited your marriage.
“Storm may not be there during the early part of marriage, but as you move along, it may come hitting your marriage. What makes the marriage unbreakable is for you to stand firm, love him and move on”.
Continuing, the academic don said, “I feel so excited and fulfilled that I am elevated to professor. This is what I had always prayed for and God has helped me to achieve it. I feel very happy today.
When asked to give explanation on the secret behind her promotion to the rank of promotion, Mrs. Ndifon stated, “Hard work catapulted me to professor.
“There is nothing like lobbying nor cutting of corners. I just kept on doing what was required. Teaching, travelling for conferences, writing of papers and publications. All these catapulted me to a professor.
“For young girls aspiring to become professors, Mrs. Ndifon recommended hard work and reliant on God as the secrets towards actualizing their dreams. Follow whatever criteria set for you to follow and I tell you becoming a professor is a done deal”.
On how she managed to excel in her academic pursuit notwithstanding the family’s ordeal Ndifon’s wife said, “With God everything is possible; God has been my source of strength. I never allow any challenge to weigh me down. If I had look at the challenges, I won’t be here today celebrating.
In his exaltation, officiating minister Rev.fr. Richard Diara charged young girls with ambition to rise to the peak of their careers, to borrow a leaf from Prof. Mrs, Ndifon’s virtues by working hard if they want thier dreams to come true.
