Berom Educational and Cultural Organization (BECO), has said it has lost a hundred kinsmen, and have 33000 others displaced by suspected herdsmen from their ancestral homes within the last two years.
The President, Iliya Kim added that “We have lost over a hundred natives, we have about 33000 people displaced from 54 communities completely, and our attackers have taken over the villages, it is unfortunate that NEMA and SEMA have not come to our aide.”
President of the ethnic association Iliya Kim stated this in a press conference in Jos, on Wednesday.
Speaking on continuous killing in Plateau state, (BECO) leader noted with sadness that traditional and community leaders are been hunted by the attackers.
“The killing in other Bokkos and Maingo were on, the public is still in the dark, as the killing of a village head, district of Ropp in Bakinladi, and the killing of a first class traditional Ruler in Bokkos has not been unraveled.”
The group said some security operatives have assisted in curtailing the killings, but some personnel are aiding the attacks on it communities, and call for their sack.
“As much as we appreciate the role of the security agencies and personnel, however, there are a few bad ones that should be identified and flush out so as not to tarnish the image of the entire system.”
Responding on the alleged missing soldiers who is said to have been abducted while on duty in a village in Fan, district of Barkinladi local government area.
Mr. Kim denied the allegations, insisting that his kinsmen (Berom) are law abiding.
“We are bold enough to say that at no time has any Berom person or persons ever attack anyone not even a soldier, we are nor aggressors.” He refuted.
