A group, under the auspices of Plateau Political Elders’ Forum, (PPEF) has commended governor Simon Lalong for the recent sack of all his commissioners and also recommended that some advisers to the governor be relief of their appoints to give way for better service delivery to the citizenry.
President (PPEF) Ayuba Shown and Secretary, Rev Bitrus Nawaaizi, in a press relase Saturday in Jos, said that action of the governor over the sacking of the commissioners was a welcome development.
“The action of the governor in dissolving the former commissioners did not come to us as a surprise because it is long overdue; infact, some of the advisers should also have been dissolved alongside the commissioners.” It stressed.
The elderstatemen also appeal to governor Lalong to appoint only technocrats in the next set of commissioners.
“We want to caution His Excellency governor Simon Lalong not to repeat the same mistake he did in choosing the former commissioners, he should allow competence, credibility, experience guide him this time around.”
It added that “we are ready to assist the governor to set up a think tank that will assemble men and women of goodwill for him, who would drive his visions and aspirations for the state.
“He (Lalong) should also choose those who would give him electoral value and with large grassroots support.”
They urged him to rather allow competence, credibility and experience be the guiding spirit in the choice of new members of his emerging cabinet who might serve in his last lap of his first tenure.
