The Nigerian police authority has assured citizens in Kaduna and Plateau states of adequate securities during and after the easter celebrations.
Spokesmen of Kaduna and Plateau State Police Commands in separate statements issued in Kaduna and Jos warned that the police will be battle ready to deal ruthlessly with any mischief maker.
Spokesman of the Plateau command, Terna Tyopev said it will enforce the existing ban on sell and use of fireworks by youths and other criminal acts. It also banned riding of motorbike within the Jos metropolis.
On the increasing car theft within Jos, the police advise the public to padlock their vehicles, and ensure that their homes are properly secured, by allowing some members of the family stay indoor to avoid intruders in their homes.
Since the return of relative peace in the last two years, celebration of religious festivities has been peaceful in Jos.
The Kaduna State Command, through a statement by its Spokesperson, ASP Aliyu Usman, said the Police is ready to ensure a hitch free Easter festivities.
“In view of the approaching Easter Holidays, the Command has drawn an elaborate Operation Order to checkmate the activities of criminal elements.
“In this regard, the command has put in place all necessary security measures to ensure the safety of lives and property during and after the holidays.
“In view of the mapped out strategies, the Command wishes to once-again reassure the citizens of Kaduna state of its readiness to promptly respond to distress calls and decisively deal with any person or group of persons who might constitute threat to the peaceful atmosphere of the state,” the statement read.
