Kano emir, Muhammad Sanusi II has declined an invitation extended to him by the Kano Anti Graft Commission to appear before it on charges of misappropriation of emirate funds, slated Thursday.
The commission is on a fresh probe against the embattled emir over alleged money laundering.
The Commission was set to inquire from the emir how some portions of land belonging to the emirate were sold and how the proceeds from the sale was diverted.
A source told KAKAAKI REPORTERS that the commission, which had interrogated one of the palace members alleged to be party in the land fraud, decided to invite the emir to give his own account of the land racketeering.
Our Correspondent learnt that the State anti graft commission has conducted several fraud investigations on emir Sanusi for the past years, ranging from millions of Naira, internet fees the emir incurred, and dubious lands sales at Darmanawa quarters and the money not accounted for.
No reason was given to the Emir’s failure to honour the Commission’s invitation as at the time of fielding this report.
