A group, Patriotic Christian Youths of Nigeria has accused of the minister of interior, Gen. Abdulrahaman Dambazau (rtd) of hatching plans to destabilize Taraba state with Islamic agenda.
The youth group who vowed to resist the Interior Minister at a Press Conference in Kaduna said, “the sudden interest which the federal government showed by immediately deploying the minister of interior, Gen. AbdulRahman Dambazau (rtd), minister of Women Affairs, Senator Jummai A’isha Alhassan, the Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, the General Officer Commanding 3rd Amoured Division (GOC), Maj. Gen Benjamin Ahanato and Senator Yusuf from Taraba Central Senatorial zone is an indication of government vested interest in the Taraba crisis.
Timothy Nasso, National President of the Christian youths told Journalists that “It is also our firm believe too, that the passion with which Dambazau and others rushed to Taraba state, is a smokescreen of hidden agenda to cause confusion and possibly intimidate Governor Darius Ishaku from the implementation of the commission of inquiry set up to look into the crisis.”
“We want to warn that any attempt by Dambazau and his co-travelers to implement or destabilize Taraba state with Islamic agenda shall be resisted.
“We are calling on the good people of Nigeria and the international community to plead with President Buhari to offload Danbazau from his cabinet as his actions and inactions has shown that he is not fit to be a minister of the federal republic of Nigeria,” they said.
According to them, the tacit support being given to killer herdsmen by the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, (MACBAN) and some members of Buhari cabinet has become worrisome to well meaning Nigerians and calls for urgent measures.
Addressing a press conference in Kaduna yesterday, Timothy Nasso, National President of the Christian youths also faulted the Minister of Interior Gen. Abduralman Dambazau for taking side with the ‘killer herdsmen’, urging President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately relieve him of his position.
The youths wondered why “in spite of the massive killing of people by fulani herdsmen in Benue, Plateau, Taraba, Southern Kaduna, Enugu, Ebonyi among several others, the federal government had never show this kind of interest, not even the deployment of security to the areas to fish out the bandits.”
According to the text of the briefing, Nasso said “as Patriotic Christian youths, we observe with deep concern and utmost disappointment the activities of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) over the unfortunate incident that happened in Taraba state recently.
“We have no intention of joining issues with MACBAN, but for the open, brazen approval by certain officials of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration led federal government has left much to be desired.
“Without mincing words, we want to state that MACBAN as an umbrella body for the fulanis has suddenly become the defender of murderous herdsmen whose activities have become a nightmare to every community in Nigeria.
“These murderers have continued to unleash havoc and rendered many people homeless, their deadly activities have destroyed economic and commercial activities of communities. With their sophisticated weapons, they invade communities at will.
“The manner in which they invade the communities and chase out the natives and subsequently occupied their land, is a clear indication that they waging are waging a jihad.”
The youths said, “For MACBAN to shamelessly accuse the Taraba state government for setting up a commission of inquiry to investigate the causes of the incessant attacks on the people as promoting genocide, to say the least, is shameful.
“For accusing the Taraba State House of Assembly for carrying out its constitutional responsibility of making good laws as a promotion ethnic cleansing against the fulani herdsmen, is the most callous and insensitive position to be taken by any responsible organisation.”
