Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State has announced a total lockdown of the entire Plateau state, to enable government fumigate the entire state, with effect from this Thursday.
The governor said the Lockdown will affect all religious worship centres, as there will be no church service nor attendance in Mosques.
He said citizens will not be allowed to move from one point to another.
According the the governor all Mosque and churches shall undergo fumigation process.
“I am directing a total lockdown, effective 12 midnight of Thursday 9th April 2020 to Wednesday of 15th April 2020.”
The governor stated this Monday evening, shortly after a meeting of covid-19 committee, held at old government house Jos, chaired by Chairman of the Covid-19 pandemic, governor Simon Lalong.
He explained that “government has concluded plans to carry out a state wide fumigation exercise which will cover Jos Bukuru metropolis and all the 17 local government area of the state.”
However, medical personnel, media, telecommunication workers, Tanker drivers and security personnel are exempted form the restrictions of movement.
The governor revealed that a total of 48 suspected cases in the state, but were all tested negative, he i formed further that 25 persons who have been on self isolation within the state have been medically satisfied safe, and reunited with their relations.
The governor revealed that a Covid-19 diagnostic centre shall be established in the state within the ongoing week. He added that there are 11 functional ventilators in the three isolation centers.
Governor Lalong also said that the state government is working in collaboration with the federal government to provide succour to vulnerable persons need, but he said state civil servants won’t be part of the palliatives, because they are been paid salary regularlly.
He said a 200 bed capacity isolation center for covid-19 is to be established in the state soon.
