By ANDREW AJIJAH:
The governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong, has announced the death of a COVID-19 patient on Quarantined.
The governor broke the news in Jos, during a statewide broadcast on Sunday.
Governor Lalong said the unfortunate patient died while awaiting medical results of his blood sample from NCDC.
“Sadly, one suspect whose sample was taken died yesterday (Saturday) before his result was returned,” said Lalong.
Lalong said 10 patients of the COVID-19 including the index case have been successful treated, discharged and reunited with their families.
The governor equally regretted that the most of the COVID-19 infection cases were as a result of persons imported into Plateau state.
He said out of the 119 Almajirai brought back into Plateau state from other Northern States, only one Almajirai was tested positive for covid-19, and is being treated.
He however said the State has returned 601 Almajirai from the state to their states of origin, 33 to Kaduna state, 419 to Bauchi, Kano received 92, Jigawa 47 Almajirai, and Gombe received 5 Almajirai.
Meanwhile, Following persistence in violation of COVID-19 safety rules, the State government shutdown indefinitely, an open market in Jos north local government area, where social distancing rule is not been properly observed.
