The governor of Plateau state, Simon Lalong has lifted the ban on movement, which has been in placed as precautionary measures toward containing Covid-19 disease spread in Plateau state.
“The Lockdown earlier imposed in the State from Sundays to Wednesdays is hereby lifted until further notice.”
However, the governor stressed that inter state movement banned remain enforced.
Similarly, the national curfew declared by President Muhammadu Buhari is still in place.
“The curfew imposed by the Federal Government from 10pm – 6am will continue to be observed until further directives are issued.”
“While the Lockdown is relaxed within the State, inter-state borders shall remain closed with greater enforcement.”
The ban on operation of public places were lifted, however, with strict adherence to Covid-19 safety rules.
“All public places like Markets, Shops, Hotels, and Restaurants that fail to comply with the hygiene or sanitation regulations, social distancing as well as use of facemasks shall be shut down and the owners prosecuted.”
Governor Lalong made the disclosure Thursday in Jos, during a press conference held at government house.
He revealed however that Schools remain closed.
“All Schools are to remain closed.” Lalong emphasized
The governor revealed the negative effect of the pandemic on citizens in the state; the governor said 130 patients were tested positive for Covid-19 disease, with three deaths.
“So far, we have tested 2,032 persons for COVID-19 in the State. Out of this number, 130 were confirmed positive. We recorded 3 deaths which unfortunately occurred before their test results were confirmed.”
He added that “At the moment, we have 26 persons still on admission and have discharged 99.”
