The university of Jos is set to honour a renounced educationist, a former Executive Secretary, National Universities Commission (NUC) Prof. Peter Akinsola Okebukola, for his outstanding contributions in developing education in Nigeria.
Prof. Okebukola will be honored with Doctor of Science Degree Honor is Causa (D.Sc.)
Vice Chancellor of the university of Jos Prof Sebastian Maimako, stated this Monday, during a pre convocations press briefing, to heralding the forthcoming 31st and 32nd convocation ceremony.
Another awardee by the university of Jos, will be the founder of Nasco group of companies Dr. Attia Nasreddin.
The Vice Chancellor said the choice of Nasreddin was because of his contributions in the education sector and the business sector.
Dr. Nasreddin will be honoured with Doctor of Business Degree Honor is Causa (DBA)
Speaking on challenges confronting the Institution, the vice chancellor lamented that some persons are illegally encroaching into it undeveloped land.
Prof Maimako said the university have reported the matter to the federal and state government for action to be taken against the persons.
He explained that Plateau state government had set up a committee which is currently working on the challenge.
On the quality of university of Jos graduands, the vice chancellor said graduates of university of Jos are second to non, across the globe.
Part of the activities for the 32nd convocation will be a public lecture to be delivered by an outstanding Lawyer, Prof Dakas CJ Dakas, the immediate past Dean, Faculty of Law of university of Jos.
During the convocation, a number of projects executive by the Prof. Maimako’s administration and those of the NUC shall be commissioned.
He assured the public of security of guest and graduands who will attend the convocation.
