Cleric Warn Army Not To Raid Community Over Missing Officer

A clergy with ECWA Plateau District Church Council, DCC fellowship has call on the Nigerian Army not to use military force on the community where a retired military officer has been allegedly missing.

“The church is sounding the caution against the plans by the military to go to any length at tracing or otherwise the whereabout of its retired top military officer who has not been seen or heard of since the last couple of days ” the press text advised.

It suggested that “the military to allow the police use its expertise in investigation to fish out those that may know or have anything to do with the incident and treat same appropriately without getting innocent members of the community affected.”

A statement by Rev Dr. David Laje on Tuesday recalled a sad and a similar incident occurred in some part of Benue state years ago, the military raided the community, and led to the death of many innocent lives.

“Any act that could bring back the memory of the military action in Zakki Biam, Benue state some years ago should be avoided at all cost.”

It will be recalled that the Nigerian Army having been searching for the missing Army General in an abandoned mining pound, at Ladura Du community, a local settlement in Jos south local government area of Plateau state.

The said missing retired Army officer was reportedly mysterious disappeared at the said location, while travelling from Abuja to Bauchi through Jos route, and have not been seen non his vehicle found.

It is belief that the missing military officer was killed and dumped in an abandoned mining pound, which the Nigerian Army have been draining the water over a week, but it seems no end insight.

It will be recalled that the said community which is been alleged to have whisked away the Army General, had loss it members numbering about 18 peoples days before the disappearance of the said Army chief, ad have been in mourning mood.

Investigations revealed that residents of the affected community have been living in great fears, some have abandoned their abodes, and relocated to other communities for fears of the unknown.
