The Catholic Bishop of Kafanchan Diocese and former Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Dr. Danlami Joseph Bagobiri is dead.
Age 60, Bishop Bagobiri, Former Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kaduna State Chapter between 2003 to 2009, died in the early hours of Tuesday morning in Kaduna.
Revd. Fr. Emmanuel Uchechukwu Okolo, Chancellor of the Catholic Church in Kafanchan Diocese confirm the dead in a statement.
“The Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan announces with great shock but with total submission to the will of God, the passing to glory of her Shepherd, Most Rev. Dr. Joseph Danlami Bagobiri which took place in the early hours of Tuesday, 27th February, 2018.
“He died peacefully at the Archbishop’s House in Kaduna. May his soul and the soul’s of the faithful departed rest with the Lord – Amen.
Priests are by this information directed to offer Masses for the repose of his soul while awaiting further information,” the statement read.
According to a closed associate of the Bishop “the Bishop left his official residents in Madakiya to Kaduna St. Gerald hospital for medical check up of his eyes.
“After his medical check up at the Arcbishop’s house, he went to sleep and asked us to wake him up for breakfast this morning (Tuesday) before leaving to Kafanchan.
“It was this morning we went to wake him up for the breakfast before proceeding to Kafanchan, we discovered he was not alive.
Late Bishop Bagobiri was ordained Priest in 11 June, 1983 and was later appointed Bishop of Kafanchan on 10 July, 1995.
Bishop Bagobiri has been a prolific writer and was never scared of speaking to power against injustice.
