All is now set for the Post Jubilee celebration of Burutu Grammar School, Burutu, organized by the Old Students Association
Burutu Grammar School, Burutu is 52yrs old at the moment. The school turned 50yrs in 2020 but could not celebrate due to COVID-19
In a media chat with our reporter, Chief Mrs Anthonia Oguah, the Chairman, Planning and Organizing Committee , who hails from Ogwashi-Uku kingdom in Delta state, and a one time student of the great Burutu Grammar School, the Island were she grew up as a teenager, said that, many students of the Association are excitedly looking forward to the event which promises to be the Biggest event to ever happen in the life of Burutu Township , she promised on behalf of her committee, that the Golden Jubilee would be a worthwhile reunion and that she is using this medium to invite all old and new students of the college to Burutu, the Island of no regrets.
“It is my pleasure as the Chairman of the planning committee to extend an invitation to the former students of the illustrious Burutu Grammar School (B.G.S.B), which was established more than half a century ago, to come to Burutu Town, which is the seat of the Burutu local government and is also known as “The Island of no Regret.” I extend this invitation with pride and joy and on behalf of the Old Student Association to the celebration which will begin, On the 28th through the 30th of October in 2022. The event will feature many activities like the Unveiling and Commissioning of the schools signpost, Presentation of 10 Portable White Boards, and refurbished school toilets, Anniversary Public Lecture and Drama, to be delivered by the renowned Orator Prof. Benedict Binabai, there will be a
novelty football match, cultural dances, Health seminar and finally with a Gala and Award night at Warri.
Chief Oguah, stated that the old student association is dedicated to supplying infrastructure and making sure that the institution could compete favorably with other famous schools in the country
She added that “the group is currently working to realize its dream by offering projects and programs geared toward student development and also hope to improve the building’s structures to enhance teaching and learning. She went on to say that the anniversary is indeed an opportunity for old students to reconnect “It is also a wonderful way to bring alumni back to the school as this occasion is much more than just a friendly meet up or reunion, it has the potential to bring great rewards for our alma mater as we share some special bonding and have a sense of responsibility, We believed that the alumni is the reflection of its past, the representation of its present, and the link to its future,in our dynamic and changing world were we get too busy with our families and work, and all of a sudden, we lose touch with those who aren’t a part of that small circle of friendship. Therefore, the post jubilee celebration is a timely opportunity for us to get back in touch with our old friends and classmates”
The family of former students and teachers of Burutu Grammar School, Burutu, is very large right now in practically every region of the country and across the borders, we are succeeding in the line of our chosen work and various Field of human endeavors that we have chosen. This is a College that a number of remarkable men and women that are currently making waves in world in attended when they were younger. It is a great joy to be alive to be a part of this Historic Big Reunion” She said.
