Officers of the Nigerian Police Force have raided the home of former Governor of Zamfara state, Bello Matawalle in Maradun on Friday morning.
According to a report on The Spectacles, several police officers surrounded the building.
It can be recalled that Matawalle made headlines after the new Zamfara State governor, Dauda Lawal accused him of stealing official vehicles from the Government House before handing over the state’s leadership to him.
The new governor, during a radio programme with Vision FM in Gusau, the state capital, on Wednesday, said his predecessor sold all the official vehicles, refrigerators, television sets and other items in the Government House.
Confirming the development, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode who is a friend of Matawalle described the raid as unacceptable.

“I call on the IGP to call the officers that are involved to order. The abuse of power and the persecution of political opponents and adversaries has no place in Asiwaju’s Nigeria,” Fani-Kayode stated.
