Part of Jos main market, popularly known as Terminus market located at the central areas in Jos, the Plateau state capital was Friday night burnt.
Plateau state commissioner of police CP Undie Adie has confirmed the infenor and visited the scene early hours of Saturday.
The police chief described the incident as unfortunate, and appeal for calm from affected traders.
Cause of the fire and the extend of damage by the infenor has not been ascertained at press time, but it was observed that property worth millions of Naira might have lost.
Mr. Adie has deployed police officer to the scene to condone the vicinity to avoid theft of property that are not burnt by hoodlums.
The said Terminus market was gutted by fire at the wake of 2001 Jos crisis, it was alleged that enemies of the state set ablaze the market in 2001.
Another unfortunate incident that has negatively affected the Terminus market is the two times explosion of bomb at the market, killing several sellers and buyers at the market.
Successive administrations in the state including the incumbent have not been able to rebuild the Jos main market, sitting capital intensiveness.
