Plateau state police command has confirmed the rustling of 9 cows belonging to Bishop Benjamin Kwashi, the Anglican Bishop of Jos.
Spokesman of the police DSP Terna Tyopev, in a press release issued in Jos, on Saturday said the incident occur during curfew hours.
“Today being 30/06/2018 at about 0700hrs the Plateau State Police Command, Jos received an information that nine (9) cattle belonging to the Archbishop of the Anglican Diocese of Jos, Bishop Benjamin Kwashi were rustled by men suspected to be Herdsmen.”
The police said one of the cattle rustlers shot dead a residence who was on the trail of the rustlers.
“In the process, one Adamu Dung a 46yrs old Vigilante man at Kangan Area of Jos was shot and killed by the rustlers.” Police report.
Police said the corpse of the cattle rustler victim as been deposited in morgue “His corpse has been deposited at the Bingham University Hospital, Jos.”
According to the police, investigation has commence in the incident, DSP Tyopev assured that that perpetrators must be brought to book. “Investigation is ongoing to track and arrest the perpetrators to face Justice.”
