Suspected gunmen believed to be Fulani attackers Tuesday night killed four persons at Rengo street, Rukuba road area of Jos North local government area in Plateau state.
An eye witness who is also the youth leader in the area Bala Agwom in a telephone interview early hours of Wednesday said the incident occurred Tuesday night when residence went to bed.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Plateau state police command DSP Terna Tyopev, also confirmed the attack, but said shall reveal details of the incident later.
“I have just been informed of the incident, but I can not speak further on the incident, I will get details of the attacks through the DPO in charge of the area later, and get back to you.” PPRO stated.
The youth leader Mr. Agwom had said security operatives of the special taskforce on Jos crisis were invited to the scene, but no arrest has been effected.
Similarly, a resident at the scene Linda Adar also confirmed the incident in a telephone interview, Miss Linda said one of the victim who died is her neighbor.
“It is a sad moment for us here at Rukuba road, Fulanis killed four of our youth, one of them is my next door neighbor.” She explained in tears.
It was learnt that the corpses have been deposited in a morgue in Jos, the Plateau state capital.
One the victims who was identified as Mr. Lucky Kogi was been buried at press time, due to the level of damage inflected on his remains.
The victim according family sources was a father of a child, and his widow is curently heavily pregnant.
Though three of the other corpses has been deposited at the Evangel Specialist Hospital Jos, an ECWA missionary hospital, also known as Jankwano hospital, the youth leader informed.
The Rukuba road attacks and killing of the said people whose ages are between 25 to 28 years has raisen apprehension among residents of Jos on Wednesday.
A resident of Jos who pleaded not to be named fear that the attacks which has been occurring in villages might have resumed in the state capital Jos.
