Gunmen, suspected to be militia herdsmen on Saturday Aso community of Jema’a local government area in Southern Kaduna killing of 12 persons and injuring four persons
The gunmen, who attacked the community on Saturday night, let four others injured.
Aso community under Gwom (Kagoma) chiefdom is about 40km away from Kafanchan, the headquarters of Jema’a local government Area in Kaduna State.
The gunmen dressed in an up and down overall attire, stormed the community at about 8 pm and started shooting sporadically.
An eyewitness, Rev. Fr. Alexander Thomas, a Catholic Priest told our Correspondent that the attacked lasted for about an hour before the arrival of Soldiers after the attackers had left.
Secretary of the Gwom chiefdom, Mr. Sale Banda Kure who confirmed the attack said “the gunmen who were identified to be Fulani herdsmen, attack us at about 7:30 to 8 pm. They started shooting at everybody and even following some people to their residence to kill them. The attacked took place without a resistance from the security operatives already stationed in the community.”
“They killed 12 people, 10 men and two Women, the families of those killed have been given permission to bury their loved ones. This is the worst easter ever experienced in our chiefdom,” he said.
The spokesman of the Kaduna State Police Command, ASP Aliyu Usman could not neither responds to our inquiries or responds to the text message sent to his telephone line as at the time of fielding this report.
