The Nigerian police have confirm the attack on the residence of the district head of Gashis, in Barkinladi local government area of Plateau state.
The police public relations officer (PPRO) of the Nigeria police, Plateau state command ASP Terna Tyopev made the disclosure in an interview with Journalists in his office in Jos, Monday evening.
“We got the report of an attack on the residence of the Gwom Rwei Gashis, he was attacked, but not shot as has been speculated, we deployed our crime men to the scene, they found six empty shells of bullets, but no one was killed. Investigations are on.” Police said.
Meanwhile, transition management committee chairman of Barkinladi Local Government Area of Plateau state, Dickson Chollom had earlier reported attack on the district head of Gashis and two others in a barber shop, in Barkinladi shot by armed men.
“Gwom Rwei Gashis (District head) is unconscious and rushed down to Barkin Ladi general hospital.”
Mr. Chollom said the special taskforce on Jos crisis (STF), also known as Operation Safe Heaven” reported the shooting of the community leader to him (Dickson Chollom)
“FOB Gashis commander Lt Comd Awolor, confirmed to me (Dickson Chollom) that the GWOM Rwei Gashis residence was attacked, Burned down.”
Mr. Chollom interview said the that community leader was found in comma “the chief was found unconscious in the house when the security agents forced the entrance to the house opened.”
Mr. Chollom while addressing Journalists in Jos, at a private hospital in Jos, where the district head have been hospitalized for medical attention, shortly after visiting the gun victim, Mr Chollom said the victim was responding to treatment.
Contributing, the medical personnel in charge of the patient, (District head) Dr Dung Chollom said the district head Mr John Dalyop, was stable, but needs more rest, because he has been traumatized by the attack.
Doctor Dung said more medical examinations will be carried out on the patient (district head) to ascertain any possible damage that might have done him.
The council chairman had said, the second victim who was shot in a Barber shop have been moved from Barkinladi general hospital, to Jos, following his critical conditions, due to the deep injuries sustained from the bullet wounds. “One of the victim has been refer for further treatment in Jos.”
He revealed the identity of the barber shop gun victims “sir, On 6/05/2018, at about 7:45pm, one Danladi Adamu and Raphael Pwajok were shot by unknown gunman at a barbing saloon located at Bokkos Road junction, Barkinladi; the two were injured, but are responding to treatment at General hospital, Barkinladi.”
The Barkinladi council boss also informed of a recent cattle rustling from his council area, but said combine efforts are been put in place toward recovering the missing cows, pointing out that act has degenerated tension among residence of Barkiladi.
Earlier on about 200 cows were rustled between Mangu Halle and and fan district. It took the join intervention of the security egencies (STF, Police, Vigillante), the Gwom Rwei Fan and my humble self to avert a serious security breach. A serious search to recover the cows is on going.” Mr Chollom stated.
