I’d like to start with a heartfelt thank you to our community for their support in this most extraordinary year of years. We launched our innovation hub “GreyHobb” in January 2022 in Kaduna, Northern Nigeria and have since then seen unprecedented growth in our various initiatives.
Fully aware of the obvious challenges that confronts new ideas, we decided to run the Reid Hoffman ‘Blitzscaling” model which initially prioritizes speed over efficiency. Hence, the year 2022 was about the race through all that was possible so long as it related to our vision which is an “increased access to digital opportunities” and our mission to “help people leverage technology for improved livelihood”. Having gathered these truckloads of experiences in 2022, we organized our best selections into a structure that will form our core activities for a more efficient and fluid 2023.
The resilience and dedication of our team at Greysoft Technologies, along with our various partners has been incredible. We have landed a sledge hammer on the Extended Reality (XR) space which includes; virtual tours and the metaverse, which is a Five Trillion Dollar industry by 2030 according to a Mckinsey Report. For VR tours, our focus will be on real estates, public/private institutions and virtual showrooms while, the metaverse will cover advocacy, experiences, spaces and education.
Our software development team have seen a plethora of projects, some of which are at beta-testing stages with others nearing completion. 2023 will see a couple of our mobile apps in the Playstore and Appstore, after which we will help clients build their own solutions. Our creative team also have developed brands and contents for many businesses as well as birthed creative solutions for organizational challenges.
GreyAcademy, which is our digital literacy platform, has delivered a couple of bootcamps, hackathons, and trainings – sponsored and paid, private and government initiated. We are currently a Certiport Authorized testing Center (CATC), NABTEB certified for training as well as ITF compliant. In 2023, Greyacademy digital classes will be live to serve people who are outside Kaduna and those in other countries. Our mantra is “from skills to jobs”, this is why we have partnered with the Skills for Prosperity (S4P) Initiative to develop a framework called the National Apprenticeship and Traineeship System (NATS), which allows for trainees to be paired with employers for practical learning and job security.
Our co-working spaces remain ever green and aesthetically inspirational for our co-workers, while our incubation and acceleration programs will focus on startups that are in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and are scalable.
So yes, 2023 is indeed a great year to look forward to as it will involve the establishment of our GET center, that is, The Greysoft Emerging Technology Center – powered by Web3, which will be present in various states of Nigeria. We look to finalize more public/private partnerships with organizations locally and international who share our vision. The Kukah Price for Young Innovation – The Continental Edition will happen at the Greysoft Innovation Conference 2023, and of course; your dose of Grey Minutes. These and many more are definitely some things to look forward to in the new year 2023.
However, when I look back at an astonishing 2022, the most important thing for me as CEO, is a total validation of the powerful culture here at Greysoft. Our culture is built around people, innovation and teamwork. I daresay that the greatest contributor to our success is unequivocally “teamwork”. As the saying goes; “No one can whistle a symphony, it takes an orchestra to play it”.
I say let’s do it again… together!
Sincerely,
Ralph
