Members of the Plateau state House of Assembly Wednesday Impeach it speaker, Peter Azi over alleged disloyalty to Governor Simon Lalong.
The Speaker, an All Progresive Congress (APC) member representing Jos north west, was removed alongside the majority leader of the House, Henry Yumkwap, an APC member resenting Shendam constituency on a similar accusations.
The motion for the impeachment of the speaker was moved by Peter Gyendeng member representing Barkinladi constituency, siting section 92, sub section 2 of it rules.
Member representing Mangu east constituency Abdul Yanga seconded the motion for the impeachment.
To third (2/3) of the legislature passed a vote of no confidence on the Speaker, Peter Azi, the former speaker also lost out during a voice vote, as majority of members unanimously call for his impeachment.
Former deputy speaker Yusuf Gagdi an APC member who last year decamped from PDP, member representing Kantana state constituency, from Kanam local government nominated Joshua Izam Madaki another APC member as the new speaker of the Plateau state house of assembly, and it was accepted by all.
12 out of the 17 members of the All Progressive Congress APC at the Plateau state house of assembly voted for the removal of the majority leader Henry Yumkwap.
The member representing Mikang constituency Nanlong Daniel was made the new majority leader of the Plateau state legislature.
It was observed that the entire lawmakers, both the ruling party APC and the opposition political party PDP were in high spirit, of jubilation.
A source said the Impeached Speaker was not loyalty to the Governor, hence his removal.
Another Source hinted that the impeached Speaker and the majority leader alleged to have been shortchanging members of allowances duo to them.
