2023: Southern Kaduna Attack Victims Fear Disfranchisement Over Burnt PVCs

Victims of Kaura attacks on 18th December, 2022 have expressed fear that they’ll be disfranchised for the 2023 general elections over their burnt PVCs.

Nathan Yashim, a resident of Malagum 1 Community who lost his Parents and a brother during the carnage, spoke to THE PUNCH recently, said they’re expressing fear if they’ll vote in an election day because of their burnt PVCs.

” We’re calling on the Government to provide and avenue for us to come out and vote for leaders that are willing to protect us.

” We’re willing to come out en mass to vote but the Government must deployed securities operatives to enable us exercise our franchise.

According to him sinced the attacked of 18th December, 2022 peace is yet to be restored in their Community, noting that they’re still receiving threatening calls from the attackers, saying they’re yet with their mission.

Another victim, David Luka who reiterated readiness of eligible voters in their Community to come out in large number to vote, said that what happened in their Community was enough to make them come out to vote.

“Every eligible voter in the Community must vote irrespective of security threats.

The Kaduna State Deputy Governorship Candidate, Dr. John Ayuba, said the coordinated attacks on selected Communities was a calculative attempt to disfranchise the people of Southern Kaduna.

” Most of the Communities that were attacked are Communities that are against the present administration.

” The eligible voters in the Southern Kaduna region must come out and elect leaders who have the fear of God at heart.

Mr. Haruna Daniel, a traditional ruler in Sakong Community, said because of the attacks in their Community, they’ve made it mandatory for every voter to come out and vote.

” We have experienced violent attacks on our Community. 2023 elections offers and opportunity for us to elect leaders that will heal our land and protect our lives and properties.

He called on the Government and security agencies to be proactive while their people cast their votes.
