A presidential aspirant under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Nwachukwu Anakwenze, has said the process leading to the selection of party consensus candidate is invalid.

The PDP presidential aspirant noted that the presidential aspirants from the south east have met and agreed to work together for now.

Anakwenze, disclosed this while addressing journalists on Wednesday, after meeting with the National Working Committee of the party at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

He said that bad leadership is the only challenge affecting Nigeria, adding that if we would correct the challenge then the country should be a superpower.

Anakwenze said: “From the east, we all agreed to work together. And then towards the end, we will see who is in a better position. And at that point, we might do consensus, but not right now.

“In the north, concensus candidate they are talking about makes no sense because it is not their turn. President Muhammadu Buhari who is from the north will be finishing his two terms soon which means the north has also served out their tenure and so the argument for a northern consensus for the PDP does not hold water.

“We want a Nigeria where all the groups will have a sense of belonging. And everybody feels like they have equal say in power. We want a Nigeria where the majority right is balanced with the minorities right, we want to Nigeria where diversity is strength, where all groups feel like you have a sense of belonging.

“That is what I want to help bring back to this country. Because Nigeria is a God bless country. God have blessed Nigeria more than other countries with human resources, natural resources.

In his response, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, said that there is so much in Nigeria patriotism in Dr. Anakwenze bloodstream.

“For more you have said it is very clear, you want this country to move to the point of greatness. That is what this party represents. We are very sure that with people aspirating to the leadership in our country. Your participation will help the party not just to win power but to develop the country to the points of greatness.

“I was very happy when you extol the virtues of Nigerians, particularly Nigerians in the diaspora. It is very true that we have so much manpower all over the world. This political party and when we came to government, in 1999, President Obasanjo embarked on a program of encouraging our talented Nigerians in the diaspora to come back home”.
