The Sultan of Sokoto and leader of the Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar has call on Governments at all levels to improve the safety and security of all Nigerians.
Sultan, in a statement signed by Dr. Khalid Abubakar Aliyu, Secretary-General of JNI also appealed to insurgents to stop the unwarranted shedding of blood in the month of Ramadan.
“In the spirit of the month of Ramadan, being a month of forgiveness and mercy, JNI in strong terms calls on all those involved in delinquencies, banditry, insurgency and other forms of senseless killings to fear Allah, the Most High and desist from all forms of violence, as human lives are sacred and must be treated as such.
“On the other hand, we call on Governments at all levels to as a matter of urgency address holistically the missing link in security strategy and implementation, as well as synergize across boards, so as to improve safety and security of Nigerians in a manner that will be seen to be acceptable to all Nigerians.
“Bearing in mind that the month of Ramadan is by the corner, we in this regard call on State Governments, Corporate Bodies/Philanthropists and wealthy individuals to kindly assist in making life easy to the downtrodden, especially that the economy is seriously biting hard.
“Likewise, as we have always implored during periods of this nature, business enterprises engaged in essential commodity supply and their owners should review downward prices of goods and services – as an act of Sadaqah (charity) such that every ordinary man could afford.
“JNI thus uses this medium to implore the Muslims to fully prepare, so as to reap the benefits therein the blessed month.
“We should during supplications pray for our respective selves, families and the nation at large. The spirit of generosity especially of the haves should rise above board for good, in order to ameliorate the sufferings of the poor within our midst by providing them with food and other necessities of life,” the statement read.
