In a video interview, the Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello is seen saying that the bandits who are perpetrating evil in country “need to be looked after.”
He said this shortly after visiting and briefing President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential villa on kidnapped of school children in his State on Thursday night.
“I came in this evening to thank Mr. President for his quick response to th plight of Nigerlites following two serious kidnapping incidences and at the same time rob minds on what we think should be done and find a lasting solution.
“The President confirmed to me that this matter would be given proper attention and we will continue to engage the service chiefs at the Federal level so that we can guide and advised them on what we think should be done.
“I am very convinced from what Mr. President told me and I saw the presence of Military in Kagara. Our biggest priority is to get the kidnapped victims released. And we need to have a lasting solution to the Farmers/herders conflicts.
“I also understand that some of these bandits are tired, and they need to be looked after, they need to be trained, we need to engage them.
“From what I have seen in he last few days, once the government recognizes and absorbs some of these bandits, I think they are ready to start a better life,” he said.
