Twenty one persons have been killed and another forty kidnapped in a renewed bandits attack on Shiroro communities in Niger state.

The attack which occurred on Monday when about three hundred gunmen on motorcycles stormed four villages of Kurege, Sabon gida, Sararai and Rafin Kanya shooting sporadically killing some people and abducted many others.

An eye witness who doubled also as an indigine of Shiroro local government council Malam Galadima Salisu told Radio Nigeria in a telephone interview that unless governments at all levels come to their aid if not he is afraid that the area could be taken over by bandits who operate at will.

All efforts to contact the Police Public Relations Officer Niger state Command ASP Wasiu Abiodun for comment on the attack has failed.

When contacted on phone Secretary to the Niger State Government Ahmed Ibrahim Matane confirmed the incident but however deny knowledge of actual number of people killed.

Ahmed Ibrahim Matane maintained that Niger state government is doing everything possible within it’s powers to address the problem of insecurity bedeviling it’s people.

Our Correspondent in Minna reports that the armed bandits in Niger state have increased their level of attacks on Nigerlites since the news of the appointment of new service chiefs by President Muhammadu Buhari.

But in a swift reaction some Nigerians have expressed confidence that the new service chiefs are equal to the task of rescueing Nigeria from all forms of criminality.
