Governors, Miyetti Allah Bans Night, Under-Aged Grazing

As part of moves to stop the consistent clashes between farmers and cattle herders in the country, the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has reached a consensus with the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN to ban  night and  under-aged grazing including illegal  occupation of state forest reserves.

This was contained in a communique issued in Akure after a meeting of the Governors’ forum with the leadership of MACBAN and heads of security agencies on emerging security challenges in the Southwest geo-political zone.

Reading the communique, The chairman of governor’s forum Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti state said free range grazing must be stopped  while  herders should embrace modern breeding process. 

The governor, who noted that MACBAN also suffers insecurity and kidnappings noted that the quit order of the Ondo State Government  was meant for those occupying the forest reserves illegally.

The Jigawa  state’s governor, Muhammed Abubakar and its Kebbi counterpart, Abubakar Bagudu commended the southwest governors for the timely intervention.

The national president, MiyettiAllah, Alhaji Muhammadu Kiruwa  called on the members to join hand with governments to nip crimes in the bud.

Also in attendance were Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, Gboyega Oyetola of Osun, Seyi Makinde of Oyo and former deputy governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore.Radio Nigeria.
